My School Story
Our son actually had a very supportive teacher and she understood that he needed extra support, but they just couldn't meet his needs. He went from being a funny, happy child to miserable and having constant meltdowns in 6 months. We worked with the school to try and support him but essentially it wasn't enough, we could see it was affecting his mental health so we decided home education was the best decision. Almost immediately you could see the relief. He's smiling again, and keen to continue learning. I think it's important for me to share his story because even with a supportive school, it still doesn't fit all children.
What happened next...
Home education is going extremely well. We are lucky to have found lots of resources, social meets and trips. And most importantly, our son is happy.
How I think schools could be better.
Reduced timetables. I know some schools offer this, but it's a temporary measure. Smaller classes.
