My School Story
My child’s school story and why we chose Home Education!
Our child suffered severe anxiety around school—panic attacks in the middle of the night, shaking and feeling sick every morning on the way there. We were constantly told, “He’s fine in school.” But as soon as he walked through the door in the afternoon, the meltdowns began. His mental health declined, and we watched him slip into depression.

My Home Ed Story
After de-registration we took a little while to find our feet. Education happened from day one and I realised learning happened all the time and it has been relatively easy to tie literacy, numeracy, history and science to my child’s interests. There are endless free resources about and every day is a learning day!
It took 18 months of being out of that environment for him to truly trust that he wouldn’t be forced back. 18 months of healing, rebuilding confidence, and feeling safe again. And now he’s thriving.
Home education wasn’t the easy choice, but it was the right one for him. And that’s what matters.

How I think schools could be better.
The whole school system needs updating and needs to be seen from a child’s perspective!
