My stories

My School Story
My son hated school, he wasn't engaged, he was bored.

My son constantly skipped lessons or ran out of school.

I had his year head on the phone (whilst i was working) daily telling me my son was 'a bad child'.

They wouldn't let me in school to find him but didn't have time to search themselves and when he did turn up they weren't interested in why he wasn't in lessons.

The year heads answer was to put him in isolation for 6 weeks.

My son wasn't in lessons because everything was sat at a desk with a pen and book.

Woodwork everything was already cut, they put in together and wrote about it.

Science they watched a video of the experiment and wrote about it.

The practical work children look forward to didn't exist.

I was already home educating my daughter due to mental health so I deregistered my son.
My Home Ed Story
My son loves home education, we grow vegetables to cook with, we do science experiments, we go out and learn hands on and then he's happy to write about it after.
How I think schools could be better.
Listen to children and what they want, it might actually help engage them.

Let them have opinions and ideas on their education.

They're not robots you can order to do what you want, let them have an identity, stop crushing them.
