My stories

My School Story
My son began saying he wanted to die at 7 years old, a couple of years into primary school.

He is still waiting for an autism assessment after nearly 3 years.

He always hated school, he found it loud and frightening as he cant read people well.

I was encouraged to drag him in from the car and the teachers would help.

He was on SEN register. Nothing school or I did could make him happy in school.

He began to get confused and was unable to understand his work.

He was kept in and told off for this.

I kept saying to the teachers that he liked to please people and if he could do the work he would do it.

Eventually I couldn't put him through it any longer and deregistered.

We then discovered that he has a brainstem tumour.

He has had brain surgery, his thinking is very slow and confused now and nowhere near in line with his peers.

I am terrified that he will be sent back to school.
My Home Ed Story
After deregistering at 9 years old, we found out that he has a brain tumour.

His mental health was destroyed in school and he does not cope well with all the medical interventions he is required to go through.

If he was sent back to school I would end up with a criminal record because I would definitely not be able to get him there.

Also it would really disrupt his education at home.

We learn everyday and do as much as he can manage.

I collected his books from school when he left.

He hadn't been learning in school.

His books were ripped and had tears in them and the teacher had written things like "child's name cried throughout the lesson."
