Jenn Hodge

Doing Education Differently.

Jenn was born and raised in a small Somerset town in south-west England.  Her childhood was impacted by her having a loving mum with a life limiting illness, an abusive and often absent father and being undiagnosed dyslexic and ADHD.

She struggled in her 20’s to know which way was up – but found herself with the birth of her first child in 2007.  Since then she has been on a journey that has taken her to some incredible places and through some very tough days.

She took on the running of her local toddler group in 2010 and qualified as a birth doula a few years later, supporting women and families with both education and advocacy.  In the following years she grew her online business, facilitated a women’s circle, volunteered at home education groups, organised educational trips and events, volunteered with two evening youth provisions, sat on the parish council, project managed her communities Covid response and raised a growing family.

In January 2020 she founded an education centre in Somerset, UK which has grown from strength to strength and supports a wide range of young people, many of whom are neurodivergent.

Since her diagnosis of ADHD in 2021, Jenn has been on a journey of self-development and growth mindset (with some hiccups along the way) which was put to the test in 2022 when her mum received a terminal diagnosis.

In 2025 Jenn was selected as one of the UK’s top 100 inspiring female entrepreneurs by Small Business Britain.

Today Jenn is a keen writer, CEO and advocate of “Doing Education Differently”.  She dreams of a reformed schooling system that enables interest driven learning and meets a wider range of needs, doing away with exam culture and the academic hierarchy of subjects.

She loves hanging out with her children, listening to loud music and street dance.
