Jenn Hodge

Doing Education Differently.

Jenn Hodge believes education should adapt to the child – not expect the child to adapt to the system.

A writer, speaker, education entrepreneur and home education advocate, Jenn is the founder and CEO of Rama Life, an innovative education centre in Somerset that supports children and young people through inclusive, personalised education. Her work is driven by a simple belief: when children feel safe, understood and genuinely valued, they are far more likely to thrive.

Her passion for reimagining education is deeply personal. As a child, Jenn was a young carer for her mother while also living with the impact of an abusive and later absent father. She moved through school with undiagnosed dyslexia and ADHD, experiencing first-hand what it feels like to learn within a system that does not always recognise or value different ways of thinking. Those experiences shaped her lifelong commitment to creating learning environments where every child can flourish.

After becoming a mother, Jenn chose to home educate her own children, beginning a journey that has now spanned almost two decades. Alongside this, she qualified as a birth doula, supporting women and families through education, advocacy and compassionate care. She later built a successful online business, facilitated women’s circles, organised educational events and community projects, volunteered within home education and youth settings, served on her parish council and coordinated her community’s COVID-19 response. Throughout each chapter of her life, one theme has remained constant: empowering people, strengthening communities and helping others reach their potential.

In January 2020, Jenn founded Rama Life with the vision of creating the kind of learning environment she wishes had existed when she was growing up. Today, the organisation supports a diverse community of children and young people, many of whom are neurodivergent, have SEND, are home educated or have found mainstream education challenging. Rama Life is known for its calm, welcoming environment and its focus on building confidence, resilience, practical life skills and a genuine love of learning.

Alongside leading Rama Life, Jenn writes, speaks and contributes to conversations on home education, neurodiversity, educational inclusion and education reform. She advocates for a broader understanding of achievement – one that values wellbeing, creativity, individuality and meaningful preparation for adult life alongside academic success.

In 2025, Jenn was recognised as one of Small Business Britain’s Top 100 Inspiring Female Entrepreneurs, celebrating both her entrepreneurial journey and the impact of her work.

Through her writing, speaking and leadership, Jenn continues to champion her vision of “Doing Education Differently” – helping shape a future where every child has the opportunity to truly thrive.

When she isn’t working, Jenn enjoys spending time with her children, listening to music and dancing.
