My School Story
My son “checked out”, of learning when just 7 years of age 😢following two separate incidents of receiving a black eye from a fellow student when standing in a lunch queue. The teacher when reported, said “not to worry” and more than once got my son’s name wrong so empathy was severely lacking or any action to help.

My son then started experiencing extreme stomach ache as result of anxiety and at that point he said “it’s ok to be hurt at school by friends, that’s normal”, and the school classes for next year where announced and my request to move my son to another was turned down, we course corrected and enrolled in an IS school locally. To support this I took a second job on top of my full time post. My son is now thriving and the thought of putting him into a system where bullying behaviour is not addressed is not an option.
What happened next...
I would give up my full time job as suspect I would have to find another school out of catchment and undertake travel as all schools are full with waiting lists.
