My stories

My School Story
When my son started school he was so excited and happy and looking forward to it.

But so quickly the light went out.

He would cling to me and beg not to go. Started to refuse to let me dress him or would strip in the car throw his shoes out the window. I tried to speak to the school but the teacher just rolled their eyes.

It was obvious something wasn't right. I started to feel very worried.

He frequently had bruises, he said a child was constantly hitting him and no one helped. The school denied this but never offered explanation for the bruises.

I changed his school to one where many of his friends at preschool went hoping those friendships would help. He had only been there 1 month but did seem to be settling better.

Then one day I received a call. He was reading on the carpet with 3 peers. One pulled down his trousers using violence.

My son tried to hold on to them but he punched his hand.

The other child then forced his finger in my sons anus. His peers were laughing. In class only 1 metre from a teacher. No one protected him.

Over the next week he became anxious that his bum was bleeding he was in pain.

He had nightmares and gradually became fearful of playing with other children when he had always been so sociable.

The school was an LA maintained school.

A SAR showed the LA took legal advice within days.

He was refused referral to SARC for trained me radical professionals to advise they twice requested a meeting and to see him but we're ignored by the LA.

The language used by the children was exploited by the LA all said 'he put his finger in his bum' but these words were never clarified early documentation by teachers said up his bum.

My son described it to me as "right inside mummy right inside". All documentation described him being undressed. They claimed later it was a fully clothed poke on the buttocks.

He was isolated from his peers when I complained and singled out by teachers.

He returned home with blood in his underwear but this was investigated in only half an hour as nothing happened.
He was effectively forced out of school.

They were covering up a penatrative assault then isolating the victim it was unforgivable.
My Home Ed Story
Initially after my son was off rolled I tried to enquire about other school places but the la wouldn't tell me where had spaces their legal department had instructed education not to communicate with me.

Each place I applied for he was refused and appeals refused.

I contacted social care for help accessing support but I was accused of causing significant harm as they said he would be effected by the stress caused by complaints.

I was taken to child protection the outcome was that I should withdraw complaints and he must remain home educated or they would escalate to child protection.

They were missing child protection to intimidate me.

I had given up my job and my son loved his home ed groups his learning was coming along really well he was starting to recover.

We are now 2 years in and I could never consider school again.
How I think schools could be better.
Address the pressure in the early years scrap SATS and the focus on phonics.

Address violence and harmful sexual behaviour immediately always protecting the victim
